Art & Design Competition/ Student Innovation Competition
PARTICIPANTS OF THE COMPETITION
Participants in the Competition:
-
may be students and employees of universities associated in the Sino-Polish University Consortium.
-
may be individual persons or teams composed of: two or more students, two or more employees or mixed teams consisting of students and employees.
-
must be formally connected with the Universities which are associated in the Consortium during the Competition, i.e. in the case of students and doctoral students - must have the status of a student/a doctoral student; in the case of employees - an employment contract.
THEMATIC CATEGORIES
Each participant may submit one competition work in one of the three thematic and workshop categories:
1. Spatial activities:
Objects or interiors inspired and embedded in traditional Chinese and Polish architecture. Uploaded graphic works should include design sketches (hand-drawn or digital 3D) and a description of the design features and the idea of the intention of the project in both Polish and English. There is no limit to the length of the description.
2. Artistic activities:
Paintings, sculptures and photographs referring to the history and historical figures, culture, art and architecture of China, Poland, including oil painting, watercolour painting, sketch, sculpture, textiles, ceramics and other forms of art that are the cultural heritage of both countries.
3. Hybrid activities:
Interdisciplinary works combining two forms of activities mentioned above.
PRIZES
The Competition Jury will award first, second and third place.
In a situation when the winner of the Competition is a team, the special prize will be given to the representative of the group.
There are jointly 3 prizes for all thematic and workshop categories:
First prize – 5 000 PLN
Second prize - 3 000 PLN
Third prize – 2 000 PLN
In addition:
1 Special Distinction from the Rector of the University of Silesia - approx. value of the prize 3500 PLN
3 Honorary Distinctions (without financial prize)
SCHEDULE
1. Announcement of the Competition: 20 September 2019.
2. Submission of works: 15 October to 30 January 2020.
3. Formal Evaluation / Preliminary Selection: from 7 to 10 February 2020.
4. Announcement of the Competition Results/Final Verdict: the final gala (May 2020) during the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Silesian University of Technology
5. Exhibition of awarded works in Gliwice: May 2020 (as part of a jubilee exhibition).
PLACE AND DATE OF SUBMITTING COMPETITION WORKS
Competition works should be submitted at the Faculty of Architecture at the Silesian University of Technology, Akademicka 7 Street, 44-100 Gliwice, Poland not later than 30 January 2020.
