Our students win the Three Minute Thesis contest

Our PhD student, Małgorzata Krystek from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, has won the first Silesian edition of Three Minute Thesis popularization contest. Her short presentation titled “From pencil and adhesive tape to superconstruction” turned out to be the jury’s favourite among all final ones. Małgorzata Krystek was also granted the Audience Award.

10 PhD students from three Silesian universities have reached finals. Each of them had to enter the stage and tell the audience something about their scientific research in only three minutes, and they had to do it in a way that would be interesting and approachable for non-scientific people.

However, our University achieved not only the first, but also the second and the third place! Maciej Wiśniowski from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was awarded second place for his presentation “Turning wimp into a badass – the processing of titanium”. The third place fell in the hands of Karolina Kowalczyk from the Faculty of Materials Engineering and Metallurgy for her presentation “Just in case of an ACCIDENT – ‘new’ materials in automotive industry”. She was also granted with a special engineering award, funded EMT Systems company.
